Musk Says He Regrets Posts About Trump

Posted on June 13, 2025June 13, 2025 by jawadahmed

The CEO of SpaceX and Tesla had been feuding with the U.S. President and now says that his posts ‘went too far.’

Tech billionaire Elon Musk has expressed regret over recent posts about President Donald Trump amid a public feud between the two.“I regret some of my posts about President [Donald Trump], last week,” Musk wrote in a June 11 post on the social media platform X. “They went too far.”Musk did not say which posts he regretted.

Tesla shares rose 2.5 percent in pre-market trading following the post. The rupture with Trump came after Musk lambasted the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” a sprawling legislative package backed by the White House. Musk, who served as a special government employee in the Trump administration until late May, called the bill a “disgusting abomination” and said it was stuffed with wasteful spending.Musk also made controversial claims about an alleged connection between Jeffrey Epstein and the president in a post he later deleted.Musk credited himself with getting Trump back in the White House, helping Republicans recapture the House of Representatives, and increasing the party’s Senate seats to 53 from 51.Trump in turn threatened to cut federal contracts and subsidies for Musk’s companies.

The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.In response, Musk said he would start decommissioning SpaceX Crew Dragon capsules, the United States’ only active means of human spaceflight at the time.Musk later retracted that threat, and on June 6, Trump was asked how serious he was about cutting the contracts.“We’ll take a look at everything,” the president said. “He’s got a lot of money. He gets a lot of subsidies.”Pressed further on whether he would reconsider ties with Musk, the president declined to comment extensively, saying only, “I just wish him well.”During his 130-day tenure in the Trump administration, Musk served as a presidential adviser and assisted the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in identifying ways to cut unnecessary federal spending and improve government operations.Regarding DOGE, Trump said that its job was not finished and his administration was “basically taking over,” with many people remaining onboard.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
