Summer of 2024, a stray dog wandered into someone’s backyard, desperately seeking help. Oggie was horribly emaciated, his head sunken from muscle decay, and his body covered in flea bites and sores. When the finder tried to feed him, she noticed he couldn’t open his mouth and brought him to the closest shelter for help.
When he first arrived at Lake Hartwell Vet Clinic, Dr. Terry’s team was syringe-feeding Oggie to nourish him. Oggie was able to eat independently by licking up the blended-up wet food that his veterinary team is preparing for him. It would be weeks before we could say whether he would recover.
Oggie is one special boy; with one look at him, he can instantly melt your heart. We truly believe that every animal who enters this rescue is meant to be ours, and we are thankful that we have been given the opportunity to be a part of Oggie’s Journey.
With the help of a wonderful foster family, we were able to share Oggie’s journey to recovery on social media. One day, we got a message on Instagram from someone who felt an instant, undeniable connection to Oggie… and the rest is history!
