In July 2024, we received a frantic plea for help for a friendly stray cat in Queens, NY, that fell victim to an evil and sadistic attack.A group of teenagers lured the cat to them, and the torture quickly began. They held him down, all while lighting fireworks on his body.
Somehow, he survived the vicious attack, and before he could muster up the strength to run, one of the teens picked him up and tossed his body violently in the air. A witness franticly screamed for help, and the teens and the cat ran. It all happened so fast; within seconds, it was over, and the cat was gone.
Our volunteers walked the area repeatedly in hopes they would find the injured animal, and when they did, what they saw was horrifying. The injuries were consistent with everything the witness had said. Our volunteer called us, sobbing uncontrollably. She couldn’t believe that anyone could be so cruel.
We named this sweet soul Dino.
We rushed Dino to an emergency hospital, where they were able to stabilize his condition. While sedated, his wounds were clipped and cleaned. Dino was battling a severe infection, anemia, but his bloodwork did not show any signs of sepsis.Dino was hospitalized for weeks receiving antibiotics, supportive care, laser therapy, and medication for his horrific burns. Care that wouldn’t have been possible without the donations and support of this rescue community.
It’s easy to see from the video that Dino felt loved and safe. Dino is one special boy, and didn’t give up on us humans, and for that, we are thankful.
Dino’s Finally Home
And soon after, an incredible family welcomed Dino into their hearts, offering him the peace and sanctuary of a home for likely the first time in his life.
